From the President

I have been instructed by my Board of Directors to keep my comments "short and sweet".

I want to focus on the activities below. If you have other suggestions, let me know.

Promote Ourselves and Our Membership. Spread the word throughout the community about our wonderful, inexpensive golf club through the use of flyers, business cards, and word of mouth. By the way, you are the "word of mouth".

Increased Social Functions. We have so many interesting personalities and talented individuals…we need to introduce ourselves to one another… You know what I'm talking about.

Involve More of our Members. Our weekly, Tuesday tournament usually attracts only 25% of our membership. Let's get more people involved on a regular basis. And by the way, the next time you see Don Albin, thank him for all the time and effort he puts into each week's game…after all, where are we going to find another Albin?

Junior Development Program. Let's encourage our local high school golf programs to join with us in promoting and supporting junior golf.

Lastly, I just want to say how honored I am to serve as your President and how very thankful I am to have such a responsive, dedicated, and energetic board who serves at your pleasure in order to make us the best club we can be…

Chuck Stoll, MBGC President

Member Guest Update

Let’s do all we can to help Nick Parenti, our VP and tournament director, produce the best Member-Guest Tournament ever.

The tournament committee needs your help…How, you may ask?  Well, for starters, invite a guest and play in the tournament (October 25,26). Then, help solicit sponsors and raffle donations.

 THIS IS YOUR TOURNAMENT...
Be part of it.

THIS IS REALLY BIG AND REALLY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!

Summer Team Play

Our team has been fielded! Please come out to see your team play their first home match against Chalk Mountain Thursday July 10th at 1 PM. We could line up on 1,9,10 and 18.

Our team members (in order of index):Chris Moore, Stephen Carnes, Sean Shick, Larry Rentler, Gregg Hoversten, Alex Kuchenmeister, Don Albin, Teddy Oliver, Shadie East, Frank Morales, Jerry Gregory, Stuart Weaver, Sam Mangum, Mark Seaton, Chuck Stoll, Doug Bugni, Bill McCann, Steve Spisak, Jim Watts, Mike Nielson, Jack Johnson, Ron Alverson and Nick Parenti.

Please contact Jack Johnson at 239-1600 or Bill McCann at 489-4905 if you would like more information.

Do You Want to be DQ'd?

Our tournament chair needs your help. The quality of the score cards being returned for the weekly games is appalling.

Cards need to have a gross score (for each hole and a total), your course handicap (in the proper column), net score if it applies, and the score for the game of the day.

Cards which are illegible or need a translator or require the scorers to complete this information will be disqualified.

Membership Chair Needed

In an effort to increase membership, our Club would like to find someone from within the club with some public relations experience.

This person would receive a small salary and a position on the board. They would be expected to attend monthly meetings at the club and to participate in board functions. If no one is interested we will go outside the club but still be looking for public relations and golf experience. If you know someone you would like to recommend please contact any board member.

NCGA Zone Championship

By winning our qualifying tournament:

Chuck Stoll, Ted Oliver
Sam Mangum, Ron Sherer

had the opportunity to represent Morro Bay in the NCGA Zone Championship and play Poppy Hills and Spyglass golf courses.

NCGA Senior 4- Ball Qualifier

Congratulations to:

Bob Opie, Chuck Smith

who will represent our club at the sectional qualifying for the NCGA Senior 4-Ball.
